Pricing is always difficult for a freelance developer. Numerous factors cause this, and it's always a difficult topic to discuss. There are topics like support, where it starts, and where it ends, is it included in the hourly rate? if so, when does it end? is adding a feature a support issue? Tonnes of issues.

There will always be developers that will appear to charge significantly less for the same work. However, I feel that I have a reasonable policy, I provide a "value added" service. I provide quality work, and I stand by my work. For these reasons, I feel I can charge a rate that is different than some people in distant far east locales.

I have though, setup a rate structure that I feel allows me to cater to non profit organizations, and to allow discounts for larger projects. Here they are

PHP Programming

Project Size
Rate
1 to 40 hours
$75US
41 to 100 hours
$65US
100 hours or more
$60US
Billed in one hour increments
Non profit or educational institutions may request a 10% discount
Rates may change at any time

This schedule is used to provide a basis when quoting all projects. All new development projects include 30 days of user support (which does not include additional features), and bugfixes.
